[Re]value

[Re]value – The
Future of Regional Hemp and Wool in the Textile Industry

Sustainable.
Innovative. Regional.

The [Re]value project aims to
develop high-quality yarns by combining regional hemp, sheep wool, and recycled
wool in a unique way. These innovative yarns are biodegradable, self-cleaning,
and highly durable, making them particularly suitable for home textiles. Within
the project, they are processed into pilot products such as carpets, upholstery
fabrics, curtains, and acoustic panels.
But [Re]value goes beyond
material development: An industrial process chain is being established to bring
these pilot yarns and products to market, contributing to the sustainable
transformation of the textile industry. By utilizing recycled materials and regional
supply chains, CO₂ emissions are reduced, while unused sheep wool is put to
good use. This strengthens local sheep farmers, helps preserve cultural
heritage, and promotes a functioning circular economy.
With [Re]value, the cross-border
region is positioning itself as a pioneer in sustainable textile circularity,
offering a groundbreaking alternative for the textile industry. Given the
growing awareness of sustainability and the potential of hemp cultivation and
sheep farming in Germany and the Netherlands, the market prospects are
promising.
A multidisciplinary team oversees
the entire value chain – from yarn development to product commercialization.
Promising spinning trials are currently proceeding at Spinning Jenny B.V. and
Hochschule Niederrhein. The next milestone is the production of textile
surfaces, followed by the first pilot products, demonstrating the potential of
these innovative materials.
[Re]value restores the value of
regional raw materials – shaping a sustainable future for the textile industry.
