The COMET project is a cooperation between the six Interreg partners Oost NL (lead partner), NMWP, LIOF, Emsland GmbH, TCNN and Transfer Agentur Fachhochschule Münster, and is planned to be executed between October 2025 and December 2028.
The COMET project wants to contribute to a more innovative program area by focusing on solutions for selected technological challenges, necessary for the realization of the Einstein Telescope. In recent years multiple projects brought forward such innovations, but many challenges remain. This requires a combination of competencies, and a cross-regional and international cooperation is needed. The goal of the COMET project is to combine competencies of SMEs and knowledge institutes in the Dutch-German program area in crossborder consortia, for the design, testing and realization of innovative solutions to these ET challenges. The COMET project will therefore deliver a number of subprojects in the open part of the project. In these projects, SMEs and knowledge institutes can cooperate in the program area. We target the subprojects to be between TRL 4 and TRL 6 or 7. These subprojects will generate new business opportunities, also outside the context of ET, in other markets. To support the realization of these opportunities, the partners will map which organisations in the program area have suitable competencies, and which market opportunities there are for the innovations in and outside the ET context. The acquisition and matchmaking activities will ensure that good subprojects and consortia are formed for the further development of the necessary technologies, and the partners will ensure that careful decisionmaking about the approval of the subsidies for these subprojects takes place, and that the project follow up until realization is done.
