The aim is to increase the visibility of German and Dutch culture &ndash;<br \/>\nparticularly in the form of stories and texts &ndash; in each other&#8217;s countries and<br \/>\nto bring artists, authors, and residents from both nations together in creative<br \/>\nexchange.<br \/>\nThe partnership is driven by a shared<br \/>\npassion for telling stories across linguistic, cultural, and other boundaries. Newly<br \/>\ndeveloped German-Dutch program components of the literature festival<br \/>\n&ldquo;Woordwaarde&rdquo; and the &ldquo;Boekenmarkt&rdquo; of Events dEVENTer, as well as of the<br \/>\npoetry festival &ldquo;DichterBij&rdquo; by cultural organization MIMIK, come together with<br \/>\nthe newly founded Osnabr&uuml;ck literature festival &ldquo;Stories&rdquo; organised by the City<br \/>\nof Osnabr&uuml;ck.<br \/>\nTogether, the festivals transform their<br \/>\natmospheric city centres into places of German-Dutch encounters. Storytelling<br \/>\nbecomes a tangible experience through accessible, popular, and multimedia stage<br \/>\nprogrammes that also appeal to people who have had little previous contact with<br \/>\nliterature.<br \/>\nIn addition, an accompanying programme<br \/>\nfeaturing public activities and artisanal market stalls invites visitors to<br \/>\nexplore and try out things themselves. The festival exchange is based on a<br \/>\nshared philosophy in which participatory storytelling is central. Spectators<br \/>\nbecome participants; residents from both countries are actively involved and enter<br \/>\ninto a dialogue with one another.<br \/>\nIn Osnabr&uuml;ck, the festival also marks the<br \/>\nkick-off of a special German-Dutch component within the so-called &ldquo;Kulturextra&rdquo;.<br \/>\nThis multi-month, citywide programme annually invites artists to develop and<br \/>\npresent their own projects.
