The CARE-FLOW project
\naims to develop software solutions and algorithms for healthcare to improve the
\nmanagement of patient flows and capacities in the German–Dutch border region.
\nIn this way, access to healthcare will be secured and efficiency increased in
\nthe long term.<\/p>\n
The focus is on
\nemergency services, hospitals, and nursing facilities as well as their
\ncross-border collaboration. Instead of maintaining duplicate infrastructure,
\ncapacities such as ambulances or (intensive care) beds can be jointly used.
\nThis enables needs-based care while avoiding overcapacity. CARE-FLOW thus
\nexpands the possibilities of existing cross-border collaboration through a
\nstructured, data-driven planning approach to further unlock its potential.<\/p>\n
At the beginning of
\nthe project, the foundations are currently being laid: healthcare needs are
\nbeing identified together with partners, initial data models are being
\ndeveloped, and the requirements for the software are being defined. Building on
\nthis, IT-based applications will be created that use forecasting and planning
\nalgorithms to model demand developments and support data-driven decisions –
\nboth in daily operations and in crisis situations such as pandemics.<\/p>\n
In parallel, a
\ntraining concept is being developed to simplify the later use of the products.
\nClose cooperation between companies, universities, and healthcare institutions
\nfrom both countries ensures that the solutions developed can be integrated into
\npractice in a sustainable way.<\/p>\n
In the future, the
\nproject results will be tested and consolidated in real scenarios, so that
\nlasting structures for joint, cross-border capacity planning will be
\nestablished. CARE-FLOW thus makes an important contribution to improving
