The Wadden Visie
\nProject<\/p>\n
The Wadden
\nVisie project helps to promote sustainability in the Wadden Sea region. We aim
\nto better protect the landscape while also strengthening the quality of life
\nand the economy. That’s why we are developing a dashboard to measure how
\nsustainable the region is. This project provides insights into how the area is
\ndeveloping in terms of the environment, society, and economy. We also share
\ngood examples of sustainable projects so that other businesses can learn from
\nthem.
\nThe project
\nhas four parts:<\/p>\n
1.
\nSustainability Dashboard
\nWe want the
\nWadden Sea region to become one of the most sustainable destinations in Europe.
\nTo achieve this, we measure three types of indicators: ecology, economy, and
\nquality of life. We discuss these insights with stakeholders to ensure a good
\nbalance among these indicators. In this part, we are developing a dashboard
\nthat shows how sustainable the leisure and tourism sector is in the region.
\nThis dashboard will be accessible to everyone and will display key data on the
\nenvironment, landscape, quality of life, and economy in the region.

2. CO2
\nCompensation
\nThis part
\nfocuses on reducing CO2 emissions in the Wadden Sea region. We are developing
\nand testing methods to help tourism businesses offset their CO2 emissions. This
\nnot only helps the companies but also strengthens nature in the region.

3.
\nExperiencing Wilderness and Preserving Nature
\nWe want
\npeople to better know and appreciate the beautiful nature of the Wadden Sea
\nregion. That’s why we are developing wilderness experiences to raise awareness.
\nWe also help manage visitor flows in natural areas to ensure that the
\nenvironment is not harmed.

4.
\nBiodiversity Development
\nThis part
\nfocuses on improving biodiversity in the region around the Wadden Sea. We want
\nto better prepare the plants and animals in the area for climate change. We
\nalso raise awareness among residents and visitors about the importance of
\nbiodiversity by developing several biodiversity hotspots.

Collaboration
\nThe Wadden
\nVisie project is a collaboration between various partners, including Merk
\nFryslân (lead partner), Economic Board Groningen, National Park De Alde Feânen,
\nNHL Stenden, Waterschap Hunze en Aa’s, Ost Friesland Tourismus GmbH,
\nInternationale Dollard Route, Nationalpark Verwaltung Niedersächsisches
\nWattenmeer, Ökowerk Emden, and Hochschule Emden Leer.<\/p>\n
