This project, focused on strengthening local journalism, will<br \/>\nactively create and exchange content and highlight themes that are characteristic of border regions. Citizens have<br \/>\nexpressed a need for cross-border news. This project will meet that need by combining journalistic strength and reach.<br \/>\nDuring the project period, the goal is to produce over 3,500 cross-border publications. The project partners reach a total<br \/>\nof 1,053,832 people online each week and have a print circulation of 590,090 households.<br \/>\nAt a time when local journalism is under pressure and major publishers are centralizing, reliable and independent<br \/>\njournalism is increasingly recognized as essential to the functioning of democracy. This project aims to lay a solid<br \/>\nfoundation for German-Dutch regional journalism in the border area through collaboration between media organizations<br \/>\non both sides of the border. The project focuses on informing citizens and gives them an active role through a Fieldlab.<br \/>\nCitizens help define journalistic themes from the border region. Various groups form a citizen editorial board.
