The area is attractive to riders due<br \/>\nto its beautiful landscape and quiet, unpaved paths. The project<br \/>\nrealises important facilities, such as uniform signposting a network of<br \/>\nalmost 900 km of riding trails, parking lots and locations where you can<br \/>\narrive with horse and eat and drink or stay overnight. In addition, the<br \/>\nproject hopes to make it make it easier to cross the border with your<br \/>\nhorse. Through proper signposting hotspots and unsafe traffic situations<br \/>\nwill be avoided.<br \/>\nThe signposting uses a system of numbered junctions. Every junction is<br \/>\ngiven a number, the routes between the junctions are signposted with<br \/>\narrows. This creates a network of almost 900 km riding tracks. The signs<br \/>\nalways precede the directional change, so that the rider has time to<br \/>\nsteer the horse in the right direction. With an online route planner,<br \/>\nthe rider can plan the route.<br \/>\nEntrepreneurs in the area can use the &#8216;horses welcome&#8217; label to show<br \/>\nthat they can welcome riders hospitably. This label has a number of<br \/>\nregulations, giving the rider confidence that horse and rider are safe.<br \/>\nThese entrepreneurs can also be found on the route planner. Thus small<br \/>\nand medium-sized businesses also benefit from riders in the area. We aim<br \/>\nfor 10-20 new businesses with &#8216;horses welcome&#8217; label.<br \/>\nThe European Animal Health Law requires horses to have a health<br \/>\ncertificate to be allowed to cross the border. In this project we aim to<br \/>\nreach a bilateral exemption agreement between the Netherlands and<br \/>\nGermany. To this end, we are organising meetings between equestrian<br \/>\nassociations and the government. We will also make border crossing<br \/>\neasier by connecting riding trails on the German and Dutch side of the<br \/>\nborder.<br \/>\nPreparations will take place in 2024\/25, signposting and other facilities<br \/>\nwill be realised in 2025\/2026. The project will be implemented by 6 project<br \/>\npartners: Cross border nature park Maas-Swalm-Nette (lead partner),<br \/>\nRoutebureau Noord- en Midden-Limburg, Tourismus GmbH Mittlerer<br \/>\nNiederrhein, Limburg Marketing, Koninklijke Nederlandse Hippische<br \/>\nSportbond and Limburg Paardensport. In addition all 15 municipalities (D<br \/>\nand NL) in Grenspark MSN, the Kreise Kleve, Viersen and Heinsberg and<br \/>\nvarious equestrian organisations are involved. The maintenance of the<br \/>\nsignposting after finalisation of the project is ensured by Routebureau<br \/>\nNoord- en Midden-Limburg, German and Dutch municipalities and German<br \/>\nKreise.
